Our client is a leading international organization that develops and maintains global standards for supply and demand chains across three primary industries including Healthcare & Life Sciences, Consumer Goods & Retail and Transportation & Logistics. With offices in 110 countries, our client works with communities of trading partners, industry organizations, governments and technology providers and responds to their business needs through the adoption and implementation of global standards. 

Most companies initially come to our client to get a bar code number for their products, but their standards provide a much wider framework for supply chain visibility. The current architecture of these standards include:

  • Identify: Standards for the identification of items, locations, shipments, assets, etc. and associated data.
  • Capture: Standards for encoding and capturing data in physical data carriers such as barcodes and RFID tags.
  • Share: Standards for sharing data between parties.

Position Overview

We seek a Vice President, Healthcare whose primary responsibility will be driving the adoption of global standards within the US Healthcare industry which includes, the Provider Community (hospitals, clinics, physicians), Pharmaceutical & Medical Device manufacturing and distribution. The Vice President, Healthcare will manage a team of four staff members and will have a multi-layered role as a facilitator, convener, strategist, a leader and a doer. Concurrently, the Vice President, Healthcare needs to engage the various stakeholders by actively listening to understand their collective needs and desires while synthesizing interests to provide proactive and, at times directive leadership in developing a roadmap to adopt the organizations global standards.  

Success in this role will require balancing the needs of the industry to drive implementation of the organizations standards and technology at the company/stakeholder level and must be a catalyst for action and results. In addition, the successful candidate needs to understand emerging trends and issues, such as the implications of healthcare reform, the criticality of Electronic Medical Records, Accountable Care Organizations, and product re-serialization. This position is ultimately responsible for managing all business development initiatives and customer relationships, including the acquisition of new customers and providing industry relevance in support of the retention and growth of existing customers.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

       Lead the connection, engagement and management of professional services to the Healthcare industry through influence and strategic guidance of the use of standards and technology to enable patient safety and efficiencies.

   Define, develop, and lead the execution of a strategic industry engagement strategy to drive broader adoption of the organizations standards and the specific U.S. solutions for the healthcare sector.

 Identify, develop and cultivate relationships with key industry customers/stakeholders/executives and industry associations/government organizations in order to drive industry adoption of global standards and services across the supply chain.

       Serve as the primary stakeholder/customer contact for the organization’s U.S. Healthcare Leadership team.

  Provide leadership to industry team in order to develop specific programs and services to drive the adoption, implementation/usage and penetration of standards and technologies within a defined industry or industry segment.

     Lead the improvement of internal processes in order to increase efficiency and effectiveness, thereby helping organizations U.S. division better serve the industry/industry segment and its customers.

       Represent Company on all matters and initiatives within the healthcare sector in order to increase awareness, education, understanding, and standards adoption.

       Collaborate and work closely with other industry leads to leverage horizontal opportunities and share insights.

       Lead and manage the industry team to create a high performing group while mentoring and providing guidance as needed to continually develop all individuals.

       Provide input to customer retention programs, solutions, products, and services for the healthcare segment.

       Manage department budget. 

Education and/or Experience:

       Bachelor’s degree in a related field required; MBA preferred.

       Ten  or  more  years  of  progressively  responsible  experience  in  a  customer/business  role.

       Candidates could come from healthcare associations, relevant organizations or companies, or consulting/professional service providers.   Some form of healthcare industry experience is a must.

       Demonstrated innovative problem-solving and out-of-the-box thinking skills, as well as the ability to quickly analyze data and to make strategic decisions.  Success in translating a vision into results.

       Track record of building teams and managing, mentoring, and rewarding staff members.

       Extremely conversant and credible with supply chain and technology language, trends, and issues.

       Excellent at networking and building relationships.
