Position
Responsible and accountable for the current and long-term profitable sales growth of all OTC products in the Mass and Club channels.
Requirements*: Global CPG procurement in all spend pools: raws, packaging, indirect & contract manufacturing.Position Purpose This position is responsible for developing and leading the North American (NA) Procurement program of the company, much of which is international. This includes the identification of new global sources of supply that provide strategic benefit in cost, quality, responsiveness, or continuity. This position leads a team of purchasing professionals responsible for the procurement of NA raw materials, packaging, indirect, and contract manufacturing with a multi-billion dollar spend. The appropriate candidate will bring the skills and global experience necessary to serve as the CPO in the near future. Candidates must have global experience sourcing in the categories of direct and indirect. Job Description & Responsibilities • Develop and manage the strategic sourcing process for NA raw materials, contract manufacturing and components, including technology and commodity review, supplier selection, RFP, major contract negotiations, and ongoing supply management. • Manage major capital purchases for NA in partnership with engineering and facilities, including supplier selection, RFI and RFP processes, contract negotiation and supply agreement negotiation. • Provide cross-functional leadership on new product launches, new technology searches, and scarce material supply to business teams, operations, sales, marketing, quality, R&D and external suppliers. • Manage NA Contract Manufacturer identification, initial assessment, RFI, RFP processes as well as supply agreements, annual price negotiations and continuous improvement goal setting. • In areas where NA is the global lead on a key commodity area, coach and direct the global lead on all aspects of global spend strategy development including technology and commodity review, supplier selection, requests for proposal, contract negotiations, and supply agreements. • Manage supplier diversity program for the region, including creating a glide path for improvement and an integrated plan to drive year over year increase in tier 1 and 2 diverse supplier spend. • Ensures all spend levers (e.g. specifications, demand management, management approval processes) are reviewed and acted upon as appropriate, as well as ensuring alignment with the global purchasing strategy and larger corporate initiatives. • Responsible for an ongoing developmental environment with a focus on succession planning. Ensure all procurement managers have active development plans and are being coached to strengthen key developmental areas of opportunity. Education/Requirements* • Must have international branded CPG experience: personal care, household, food, beverage or allied manufacturing. • BS Science/Engineering or Business. MS/MBA and/or CPM certification preferred. SAP preferred. • Experience (10+ years) in purchasing management including international strategic sourcing. • Recognized as a strategic leader and expert in procurement (direct & indirect) and negotiations. • Self-driven and motivated, upwardly mobile and able to establish and maintain win-win relationships internally and externally. • Cross-functional leadership required. Should be a strong integrator, with a working knowledge in PS Operations, Quality Assurance, Supply Chain Management, RD&E, RM/Component/Finished Goods specifications. • Proven track record of delivering multi-million dollar cost saving across both direct and indirect spend categories. |
