Our client is a rapidly growing iconic brand in the automotive car care retail service business with >500 franchised locations across North America. As a recently acquired PE portfolio company, the company has aggressive organic growth goals requiring a President/CEO, who will be accountable for protecting and employing assets to achieve set targets and creating a culture that embraces empowerment and teamwork while significantly growing revenue and EBITDA through the development and achievement of short and long-term business plans.

TITLE: President & Chief Executive Officer (JH17576)

REPORTS TO: Managing Director/Board of Directors

LOCATION: East Coast

While the current business environment is stable, moving forward and has a capable executive team is on place who has done great work over the past few years, a gap needs to be filled requiring a very connected and engaged leader, who has a hands-on track record and continued desire to personally invest time in the field getting deep in idea generation, listening and giving feedback on learnings and insights to translate strategy into action to heighten and accelerate the successful transformation all stakeholders will buy into and continue to work hard to deliver. 

Since a great deal work has already been done by the leadership team over the past few years, the incumbent CEO will need to demonstrate a keen awareness of the current environment, be an authentic, credible, trustworthy and high EQ leader capable of adapting, but also driving an even more collaborative culture to assure the organization realizes the opportunities already present in the current trajectory and very favorable business environment

Key responsibilities related to revenue generation include: identifying opportunities for growth and removing barriers to growth; interfacing with existing franchises to help them grow and identifying new franchisees to enable rapid growth. Will also have a lead role in developing and maintaining relationships with suppliers which are key to success in the business.

Will maintain, enhance and further develop the company leadership and workforce.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure profitable sales, financial, and operational performance in concert with the corporate mission, strategic plan, and business plan.
  • Establish key metrics to monitor performance for team and corporate management.
  • Meet regularly with the Board to discuss planned versus actual growth, profitability, employee productivity and moral, and other relevant issues.
  • Manage and optimize operational performance related to service delivery, efficient operations and other programs to enhance profitability.
  • Assume functional responsibility for the selection, development, evaluation, compensation, and retention of all team members and direct reports.
  • Build and maintain relationships that guide, motivate and reinforce positive performance of all company team members toward goal accomplishments.
  • Seek and provide performance feedback and coaching and develop self and others to improve capabilities in current role to prepare for future roles. 
  • Lead by example that demonstrates the core values of company.
  • Deliver high-quality service to customers.

Fiscal Responsibility:

  • Full P & L responsibility.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field required. MBA desired.
  • 10 + years working knowledge and experience in franchise industry operations (ideally automotive aftermarket, but not required)
  • 10+ years of experience in executive/senior management leadership roles
  • Outstanding leadership and team building skills with proven results in sales and operation required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as customer service and presentation abilities.
  • High EQ, listening skills and authenticity.
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem solving and negotiation skills.
  • Strong strategic thinking and planning skills.
  • Impeccable integrity.
  • Ability to convert general business data and findings into applied, specific information and suggestions that add value to business planning.
  • Knowledge of and ability to gather, interpret and apply automotive aftermarket industry insights and trends.
  • Ability to manage projects (on time, within budget, achieve success criteria) to ensure positive business outcomes.
  • The ability to develop initiative and project plans, allocate resources, identify potential issues/risks and develop contingency plans.
