Atkins Nutritionals names Joseph Scalzo President and CEO
Atkins Nutritionals, Inc., a provider of weight management category, announced that Joseph Scalzo has joined the company as president and chief executive officer.
According to a release, Scalzo assumes the leadership of Atkins Nutritionals after 25 years of experience at major consumer product and beverage companies and will report directly to the board of directors. He succeeds Monty Sharma who remains on the company's board of directors.
Scalzo joins Atkins after departing Dean Foods where he served as its president and chief operating officer.
Prior to Dean Foods, Scalzo was a member of Gillette's senior management team and spearheaded the successful, three-year turnaround of the company's one billion dollar global personal care business. Before joining Dean Foods, Scalzo held various leadership positions at The Coca-Cola Company.
Scalzo began his career at Procter and Gamble in 1985. He currently serves on the board of directors of Earthbound Farms, an organic food company as well as being a director of Seacology, an island conservation non-profit.
