Title:                General Manager (Campus/Plant)
Reports to:      VP Global Manufacturing
Location:         Louisville, Kentucky

The General Manager will have responsibility for developing guidelines and managing results for all operations responsible for producing, monitoring and shipping 100% of all plant produced products.  Will manage a direct staff of 10 in leading Manufacturing, Plant Financial Controller, and HR.  Will direct the development and implementation of new products and workflow optimization initiatives, which positively impact the site’s P&L, cycle time, productivity and quality of work.

The mandate of the position is to drive sustainable change management and implement the companies Lean initiative within a culture that steeped in tradition and heritage.
Position Overview

  • Leadership of operations across the manufacturing campus, encompassing the two bourbon distilleries, multi-site maturing warehouse operations, barrel filling and draining, bottling, finished goods warehousing and shipping
  • Key dimensions -
    • 52m Litres alcohol distillation
    • 5.5m 9 litre eq cases packaging
    • $350m maturing inventory
    • 339 employees
  • Engagement with industry bodies such as Kentucky Distillers Association.
  • Manufacturing figurehead for bourbon brands, involving periodic hosting of trade visitors and leadership of the companies visitor experience

 Essential Duties & Responsibilities include:   

  • Lead the plant operations to deliver planned production volume, cost, quality and service targets.
  • Take the lead in monthly total performance reviews and annual strategic planning and budgeting processes for plant.
  • Develop and implement transformative strategies to drive year-on year performance improvement in all parameters above
  • Lead the implementation of lean manufacturing in line with the company approach
  • Drive step change improvement in health and safety performance and broad based compliance expectations to do business the right way.
  • Lead the development of talent and capabilities throughout the organisation to build a high performance culture
  • Engage proactively with marketing and commercial colleagues to deliver aggressive product innovation plans
  • Collaborate with marketing and provide on the ground leadership for company visitor experience.
  • Collaborate proactively with other plant leaders as a member of the Global Manufacturing Leadership Team.
