Position Overview

The Global Director Indirect Procurement is a corporate position responsible for developing and leading the Global Indirect Procurement organization managing $400M+ in spend.

This role will lead strategic indirect purchasing initiatives and create long-term cost containment strategies with key suppliers. Lead the initiative to develop and implement global purchasing policies, practices and procedures for indirect expenses focusing on industry best practices. Provide subject matter expertise in sourcing and contract negotiation, including the identification of new sources and programs for indirect goods and services, all while providing strategic benefit in cost, quality, responsiveness, and continuity.

Major Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Create and direct the global purchasing strategies for the indirect category spend; concentration on the identification of global suppliers for strategic alliances and understanding of the key cost drivers.
  • Will work closely with all functional verticals to develop sourcing strategies to leverage buying capability. This includes the identification of global suppliers for strategic alliances and the understanding of the key cost drivers of all services and commodity type items.  Review, analyze and coordinate quotes, via bids or long term negotiations for evaluation and supplier selection.  Work on supply agreements/contracts to enhance purchasing synergies for services and commodity items.
  • Negotiate pricing and purchasing responsibilities for all indirect categories, including Media, Marketing and Advertising, Shared Services, Freight & Logistics, and other indirect categories not limited to: Travel, Credit Card Programs, IT Services/Hardware/Software, Temp Labor, Utilities & Facility Costs, Telecom, Meetings & Events, Legal, Tax & Accounting, Office Supplies & Equipment, Equipment Rental, Insurance (Casualty, Property & Liability), Benefits, Outside Services (Construction, Capital Projects), Real Estate & General Administrative. These negotiations will lead to sustainable cost improvements in the overall cost of operations and services.   Seek agreement for implementation globally and issue supply agreements/contracts to enhance purchasing synergies for indirect items.
  • Develop and maintain accurate accounting of the purchasing/spend for each category on a location and corporate-wide basis through the collecting of spending diagnostics for all indirect spend categories. 
  • Collaborate in sourcing alternative products and services that aide in the global optimization of the total indirect spend.  Strong focus on collaboration, influencing & education strong functional leaders on the synergies and opportunities in service of cost savings, harmonization, innovation, speed to market with suppliers and focus on customers.
  • Responsible for supporting a developmental environment with a focus on talent development and succession planning. Ensure all procurement managers have active growth plans and are being coached to strengthen developmental areas of opportunity; concentration on coaching, leading and developing.

Education & Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of related work experience. 
  • Bachelor's Finance, Business, Purchasing or Operations related field. MS/MBA, CPM & SAP preferred.
  • Cross-functional leadership required. Should be a strong integrator, with working knowledge in Media, Marketing, Advertising, Shared Services, Operations, QA, Supply Chain Management & RD&E.
  • Consumer Packaged Goods experience is a plus.
  • Strong capability in the behavioral areas of Accountability, Collaboration, Communication & Execution
  • Experience in global supply chain environment.
