With more than 500 patents and being recognized for award-winning design and technology, our client seeks a head of product development to lead the continued next level innovation the company has provided for over 50 years.

Position Overview
The Director, Marketing will be responsible for leading the company’s growth through new products and new category entries.  This position will be the primary lead in developing and delivering strategically aligned and commercially viable innovation projects.  The Director, Marketing will also help establish and guide the appropriate innovation processes to facilitate new product development of the established Marketing segments.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and guide the innovation and new product strategies of the organization.
  • Identify new innovation opportunities to drive revenue, margin and profit growth.
  • Assess element of risk to manage a balanced and funded innovation portfolio that reflects the company’s goals and strategies.
  • Build and manage a distinct innovation approach with the appropriate processes, tools and metrics to support new growth opportunities.
  • Act as the cross-functional steward for developing a culture of innovation.  Help the company speak a common language of innovation and avoid mindset traps that will limit growth.  Assist the organization in leveraging success and learning from failures, effectively transforming the insights/best practices throughout the organization.
  • Lead cross-functional, multi-market teams to deliver projects efficiently and effectively.
  • Provide management, coaching and professional guidance to direct reports with a focus on developing functional, interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Assess and prioritize business initiatives in an environment of rapid change and growth.  Ensure necessary resources for business initiatives.
  • Create multi-disciplinary technical innovation and solutions to support growth strategies.

Education & Experience

  • BA/BS or equivalent experience is required; MBA preferred.
  • 7 – 10 years of experience in the consumer products industry (preferably consumer durables) with broad functional experiences including product development, brand marketing, strategic planning, project management, market analysis, research planning, portfolio management and marketing communication. 
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication and influencing skills required.
  • Superior ability to create a clear and compelling vision.
  • Ability to clearly interpret external forces and trends and then to develop strategies and initiatives to take advantage of innovative opportunities on a timely basis.
  • Demonstrate the energy, drive and influencing skills to successfully commercialize projects even when significant hurdles are presented.
  • Good financial skills with a sound understanding of the financial principles including:  P&L management, pricing, COGS, margins, budgets, cash flow and capital investments.
