Our client is a fast growing and leading food distributor to channels including correctional institutions, higher education, retirement communities, healthcare and other alternative food and food service channels.

Title:                President / CEO (JH13481)

Reports to:    Private Equity Managing Director & Board

Location:       San Diego, CA

This position is responsible for development and achievement of the company  business plan.  As President/CEO, will be accountable for protecting and employing assets to achieve set targets for return on invested capital and creating a culture that embraces empowerment and teamwork while significantly growing revenue and EBITDA.

Key responsibilities related to revenue generation include: identifying opportunities for growth and removing barriers to growth; interfacing with existing customers to gain additional business and find new customers for future business. The President/CEO is also expected to take a lead role in developing and maintaining relationships with manufacturers and redistribution suppliers/brokers which are key to success in the business.

Will maintain, enhance and further develop the company leadership and company workforce.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Lead by example that demonstrates the core values of company.
  • Deliver high-quality service to customers.
  • Ensure profitable sales, financial, and operational performance of the division in concert with the corporate mission, strategic plan, and business plan.
  • Establish key metrics to monitor divisional performance for team and corporate management.
  • Meet regularly with the board to discuss planned versus actual profitability, return on invested capital, employee productivity and moral, and other relevant issues.
  • Manage the division team to ensure that all business functions are performed in accordance with corporate policies, programs, and sound business practice.
  • Prepare budgets, forecasts, and negotiate and administer operating leases and contracts.
  • Manage and optimize divisional operational performance related to warehouse layout, delivery routes, efficient warehouse operations and other programs to enhance profitability.
  • Assume functional responsibility for the selection, development, evaluation, compensation, and retention of all divisional team members and direct reports.
  • Build and maintain relationships that guide, motivate and reinforce positive performance of all company team members toward goal accomplishments.
  • Seek and provide performance feedback and coaching and develop self and others to improve capabilities in current role to prepare for future roles. 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field required.
  • MBA desired.
  • Should possess 20 + years in food service distribution and/or redistribution industry.

·         Strong food service knowledge, with retail/restaurant and alternative market knowledge, i.e. Education/Schools, Correctional Facilities, Retirement Communities/Home, Secondary Retail and Offshore.

  • Must have 10+ years of experience in executive/senior management leadership roles.
  • Previous background and experience in change management desired.
  • Outstanding leadership and team building skills with proven results required.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills, as well as customer service and presentation abilities.
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem solving and negotiation skills.
  • Strong strategic thinking and planning skills required.
  • Strong experience level required in leading and mentoring sales and purchasing teams.
  • Impeccable integrity.
  • Ability to convert general business data and findings into applied, specific information and suggestions that add value to business planning.
  • Knowledge of and ability to gather, interpret and apply food distribution/redistribution industry insights and trends.
  • Extensive working knowledge and experience in the Food Service Industry, specifically in food service distribution and redistribution business segments.
  • Ability to manage projects (on time, within budget, achieve success criteria) to ensure positive business outcomes.
  • The ability to develop project plans, allocate resources, identify potential issues/risks and develop contingency plans.
