The business is expanding and has become a platform technology with opportunities to play in a wide array of disease states as a medical/consumer based healthcare product serving a large market need that’s not currently being served.

TITLE:                         Vice President of Marketing (JH17574)

REPORTS TO:           CEO

LOCATION:               Boston, MA


Position Overview

As a member of the company executive team, the Vice President Marketing is a key person along with the head of sales accountable for commercial growth for the business. This position will play a critical role in determining the strategic vision of the organization and fulfilling all stakeholder and shareholder commitments.

The Vice President Marketing will have primary responsibility for directing the accomplishment of the established sales objectives in line with company strategies, policies and procedures while significantly growing top line revenue and EBITDA.

Key responsibilities include accountability for development and implementation of marketing programs to drive growth. Contributes to planning, development, and execution of the business unit strategies, annual marketing plans, and overall category management to achieve business growth objectives.  The position requires close multi-functional collaboration with the business unit leadership in Oncology, Digestive Health and Hydration as well as Sales, Customer Service, R&D, Operations and Finance

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Will develop and implement the overall marketing plan and budget for product lines which meets annual company business plan objectives.
  • Works with internal and external resources to develop and execute all marketing functions to include development, commercialization, communication, public relations, and merchandising for new and existing products.
  • Continuously facilitates marketing support functions, e.g. advertising agency, marketing research analysis, creative services, sales promotion, public relations, merchandising, etc., resulting in integrated, high quality advertising and sales promotion activities targeted at both provider communities and the consumer.
  • Ensures all required product claims are identified and substantiated through quantifiable or clinical research and that all regulatory requirements for product and packaging are met.
  • Develops, in conjunction with sales teams, trade show strategies and objectives to be executed.
  • Actively participates in product line pricing and rationalization that maintains profitability of the business.
  • Exhibits knowledge of product line, both with company and competitive, to drive continuous improvement and make sound business decisions.
  • Prepares and clearly presents information to senior management and the board on a regular basis and other interested parties.
  • Develops, in conjunction with sales, all account specific or promotional product executions.
  • Provides marketing input into sales forecast process for promotions and new product launches.
  • Manage New Product Development, Packaging, and other projects as necessary.

Product Development

  • As part of the new product development team, provides market and competitive data for preliminary business plans and develops and executes commercialization plan for new product launches to include pricing, volume forecasts, distribution rollout plan, trade program, advertising, communication, packaging and promotional plan objectives.
  • Manages market research with healthcare professionals to refine new product concepts, ensures that products ultimately deliver on concepts, making key decisions based on fact based data.

Marketing Communications

  • Plans and executes all professional/provider and consumer Marketing programs for including the areas of patient education, direct mail, etc.
  • Reviews all marketing communications; including the design of copy and graphics; in accordance with company standards and requirements.
  • Works with web-site coordinator to ensure information is current and that marketing programs utilize the most efficient use of the company web-site.

  • 15+ years consumer/nutrition healthcare experience in marketing management.
  • Must have 10+ years of experience in executive/senior management leadership roles.
  • 5+ years oncology, digestive health and/or hydration market experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field required. MBA desired.
  • Outstanding leadership and team building skills with proven results required.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills, as well as customer service and presentation abilities.
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem solving and negotiation skills.
  • Strong strategic thinking and planning skills required.
  • Strong experience level required in leading and mentoring sales and purchasing teams.
  • Impeccable integrity.
  • Ability to convert general business data and findings into applied, specific information and suggestions that add value to business planning.
  • Knowledge of and ability to gather, interpret and apply industry insights and trends.
  • Ability to manage projects (on time, within budget, achieve success criteria) to ensure positive business outcomes.
  • The ability to develop project plans, allocate resources, identify potential issues/risks and develop contingency plans.
